History
Integrative therapy, draws on some of the oldest techniques of psychotherapy. It was developed during the 1970s by Richard G Erskine PHD, and at The Institute for Integrative Psychotherapy.
Approach
The Integrative psychotherapy model recognises the use of other therapeutic approaches such as humanistic, cognitive, gestalt and psychodynamic and attempts to fuse them into a approach that is of benefit to the individual. The facilitation of a person's 'wholeness' to improve their quality of life is one of the most important features of Integrative therapy.
How can it help?
Because of the flexibility in approach, Integrative psychotherapy is used to treat a wide range of emotional issues rising out of
bereavement, relationship problemsor marriage difficulty. The approach can also be used to confront problems such as eating disorders, addiction, anxiety and anger.
