BiogI have worked as a counsellor in private practice since qualifying in July 2000. I also help to train new counsellors by teaching on local courses run independently and for the Cornwall College/University of Plymouth partnership. Before this I worked for 20 years for the Citizens' Advice Bureaux Service as an advice worker, manager and trainer.
As a generalist counsellor, I work with a range of situations, e.g. relationship and family difficulties, life changing events and decisions, bereavement, helping people be with feelings such as stress, loneliness, worry, depression, anger. Central to my work is offering a space for people to talk. My experience is that when people feel heard, understood and accepted, they become more confident and able to find ways forward for them and those they care for.
